Anne-Marie McNally has been appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO). She will replace Steve Leslie who is stepping back after five years as CEO to focus on his optometrist practice in Perth and to spend more time pursuing his interest as a Master of Wine.
Ms McNally is an experienced leader with over 20 years in senior management roles across member associations, international education, government, and private sectors. Most recently she was Head of Learning for Growth Faculty, and has executive experience with Family Business Association, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Financial Planning Association, and the Governance Institute of Australia.
ACBO has undertaken a process of strategic planning and has recently developed new education programmes for optometrists and support staff, which Ms McNally will be instrumental in delivering.
I look forward to working with the ACBO Executive Board and the broader team to further develop the profile and practice of Behavioural Optometry
In a statement, Ms McNally said, “ACBO’s commitment to providing world leading education in behavioural vision care and the passionate professionals I have met to date have impressed me greatly. My early career in adult education morphed into senior management roles in member associations which I have a particular passion for. They have three core elements which give me so much joy professionally – learning, community, and the goodwill of members in sharing their knowledge and experience to help others. I look forward to working with the ACBO Executive Board and the broader team to further develop the profile and practice of Behavioural Optometry.”
On behalf of members, ACBO President Melissa Allen thanked Steve Leslie “for his brilliant work during his tenure as CEO” and welcomed Ms McNally.
She said Mr Leslie would continue to be an asset to ACBO in his new capacity as Optometric Advisor.
