For Australians living with Thyroid Eye Disease (TED), every glance in the mirror can be a reminder of the profound impact this condition has on their lives.
The real impact of TED goes beyond the eyes and presents complex challenges. The visible and nonvisible symptoms of TED can have a debilitating impact on your patients’ daily activities, emotional well-being and quality of life.1–3
In an effort to better understand patients’ experiences, Amgen Australia sponsored work to document stories of nine Australians living with Thyroid Eye Disease (TED) – who generously shared their lived experience of TED.4
These personal stories reveal common themes such as visual impairment, physical changes, and the emotional toll of coping with stigma and isolation. They also highlight broader challenges like financial strain and navigating a complex healthcare system.4
