Do you have a passion for fashion and product, with a sharp eye for design? The Optical Company is looking for creative and analytical thinkers!

We are looking for a dynamic, creative and detail-oriented Product and Merchandise Planner to support the Product and Supply Chain strategy across both retail and wholesale. In this role, you’ll work closely with the GM - Product & Merchandise in assorting new collections, researching trends, analyse and forecast effective stock turn to optimise profitability. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must, as you will be working with many cross functional teams and managing partner relationships.

Based in our Support Office in buzzing Surry Hills, you will join a dynamic team who are passionate about empowering our customers to frame their personality and value their vision, as well as achieving our commercial goals.

The successful candidate will support the GM – Product & Merchandising to:
• Coordinate assortment planning and forecasting, ensuring adequate stock is available to meet planned sales and gross margin targets for both retail and wholesale business
• Develop and implement merchandising plans across all stores based on store demographic, layout and VM quantities, ensuring right product is in the right place at the right time
• Facilitate open to buy (OTB), ensuring all stock allocations and replenishments are on time, achieving required fulfilment rate
• Produce and analyse reporting on sales performance, product life cycle, inventory, margin and stock turn targets
• Undertake R&D, product development, ranging for both licensed brands and private labels to maintain a relevant product assortment for our target customers
• Develop with new product strategy initiatives
• Create product training materials/lookbooks and internal communications for new product launches and support in GTM plan
• Engage with store teams to on product mix and seeking actionable insights to improve the product strategy for each location
• Ensure stores carry out the required process in relation to product including special purchase orders, stocktakes, transfer, credits and rotations.
• Undertake SKU set-up and support master data ensuring product details and pricing data is correct. Audit of supplier invoices against agreed pricing when required.
• Work and communicate with suppliers; coordinate and work cross-functionally with marketing, operations and finance teams as required.

To excel in this role, you will have:
• 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a retail or supply chain environment, e.g. roles across merchandise planning or buying
• A results-focused and detail-oriented approach: equal parts creative and analytical in your thinking style
• A passion for retail and product with a sharp eye for design, a love for fashion, and up-to-date awareness and enthusiasm for trends
• The ability to learn quickly, with a commercial mindset and the ability to analyse sales data accurately and efficiently
• Great project management and organizational skills (get ready to wear many hats!)
• Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, Adobe and sound IT capabilities to learn new software
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to communicate and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Comfort presenting internally, training stakeholders, and leading communication with other teams
