Transitions Patient Insights

Transitions has instigated a program to educate optometrists, dispensers and practice staffs about enhancing patient experience and at the same time grow their business. Named ‘Patient Insights’, the second Transitions Smartskills program is based on recent research and explores Best Practice Consulting aimed at helping optometrists and staff understand the patient’s visual and eye health needs. A key message is the importance of greater communication between eye-health professionals and patients, including explanation of the dangers of UV radiation and discussing the patient’s lifestyle to highlight any risk of compromising eye health.

Optometrists are also encouraged to pass on their information and recommendations to dispensing staff to ensure seamless three-way communication, ensuring quality customer care and increasing the chance of loyalty and referrals. Patients value these recommendations, with almost all of those surveyed indicating they would seriously consider their advice. Research also reveals that health is the most influential factor for a patient selecting eyewear.

“We are seeing patients take a holistic approach to their eye health. They want to learn about the risks to their sight and they appreciate product recommendations and advice for preventing damage,” says Professional Development Director of Transitions Optical, Denis Fisk
