It has been 18 months since Specsavers brought its franchise model to Australian and New Zealand and the company is now hailing its entry into the market as a huge success.
One store in particular, Specsavers Timaru on the South Island of New Zealand, turned over a staggered NZD$80k in only its fourth week of opening.
Soon to be released advertisements show that, net of GST, in its first four weeks, takings were NZD$60k, NZD $62k, NZD $72k then NZD$80k. For the year prior to the switch, the practice had been averaging NZD$38k per week as a Visique franchisee.
Owner Nigel King confirmed the figures saying: “Our first month performance has exceeded expectations five fold and so we are absolutely delighted by the results.”
