Four Australian optometrists have been recognised for their ground-breaking work by one of the world’s leading optometric bodies.

Frank Anasrasopoulos and Carol Lakkis have received the American Optometric Foundation (AOF) Vistakon Research Grant of USD$25,000. Both are from the Victorian College of Optometry and were given the American Optometric Foundation (AOF) Vistakon Research Grant for their work on ‘The Effect of Contact Lens Materials on Expression of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Virulence Factors’.

The USD$10,000 Grant went to Blanka Golebiowski and Isabelle Jalbert from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of New South Wales for their work on Nerves and Neuropeptides in Contact Lens Related Dry Eye. These are highly competitive research awards with the awardees selected solely by the AOF from a record 24 qualified applicants.

Vistakon has partnered with the American Optometric Foundation for over a decade, providing more than a million dollars in scholarships, fellowships, and research grants.
