Zeiss Individual, the personalised progressive lens from Carl Zeiss Vision, has won the 2009 Optical Laboratories Association Award of Excellence for lens design.
The announcement was made at the OLA’s Annual Meeting and Convention held in Washington, D.C. in December 2009.
The OLA Award of Excellence is the premier product recognition from the optical laboratory industry in the U.S. The 2009 award is the 18th such award that Carl Zeiss Vision’s ZEISS, SOLA and AO brands have won.
“Zeiss Individual has created a revolution in the way lenses are designed and made, and in the quality of the patient’s vision. We thank the OLA for honouring us with this recognition,” said Fred Howard, Carl Zeiss Vision’s President, Americas Pacific.
“This award is a tribute to the Zeiss team that worked so hard to create this superior lens, to the visionary laboratories embracing this leading-edge technology, and to the eye care practices that are giving their patients the best vision possible with Zeiss Individual.”
Each lens is custom-designed in real time, and then freeform manufactured using Carl Zeiss Vision’s exclusive, patented back-surface application process.
The Zeiss Individual personalised lens is made using proprietary PreciseForm technology by Zeiss. It integrates how the frame, the face and the prescription work together.
