The sun was out to welcome day one of SRC 2010. SRC 2010 was held for the first time this year in the modern elegance of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre which is a stones throw from Crown Casino. Melissa Downing, President of the Optometrists Association of Victoria officially welcomed a lecture hall full of delegates from across Australia, as well as a few special guests from Cambodia and East Timor.
Lectures were packed with over 800 delegate attending day 1. This year 55 Exhibitors are displaying not only the latest in instruments and equipment, but also for the first time, optical frames.
The new E-Badge express check in system also ensured that delegates entry passes were processed in record speed, avoiding long check in delays.
Key note speakers Professor Susan Cotter Associate Professor Richard Madonna kicked of the sessions. Professor Cotter session covered Intermittent Exotropia , whilst Associate Professor Madonna presentation covered using Gonioscopy and Binocular indirect Ophthalmoscopy to reveal ocular disease.
And later that evening, over 500 delegates celebrated the launch of SRC 2010 by attending the Gala dinner on Saturday 15 May. Delegates were treated to a sumptuous meal, drinks and a dancing lesson from the Jhoom Bollywood Dance Company.
