Members of the optometry profession, and their guests, gathered at Sydney’s Epping Club on Saturday night for the fabulous Crystal Ball.

The sparkling event raised $15,000, which will be used by Optometry Giving Sight in their effort to stamp out preventable blindness.

The Crystal Ball was hosted by well-known Orange-based optometrist, Nick Hansen. During the evening, special presentations were delivered by Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight and Brien Holden OAM, CEO of the Brien Holden Institute, the Vision Cooperative Research Centre, and the International Centre for Eyecare Education, and Executive Chair of Optometry Giving Sight.

Jo Humphies, Global Communications Manager for Optometry Giving Sight said the evening, which raised funds through ticket sales, the sale of masks and raffle tickets as well as a silent auction, was enormously successful.

“215 people attended the dinner then danced the night away to the high-energy band Jellybean Jam. We had a mixture of optometrists, industry members, family and friends. Thanks to our friends at CIBA VISION for helping to organise such a successful night,” she said.

Individuals and companies from the optometry profession donated products that were sold in the silent auction.
