More than 42,000 visitors attended the 41st Mido – International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Exhibition – held in Milan last month (March).
Organisers say the visitor numbers, which were 3 per cent up on 2010, indicate signs of a recovery and growing confidence in the industry.
Mido 2011 featured six exhibition pavilions with more than 1,100 exhibitors, among them the world’s largest optical companies and new small producers.
Organisers reported that the revamped exhibition layout – divided into theme areas – was a huge success.
The Mido Fashion District was extremely popular and turned out to be the real big news this year,” said Mr. Cirillo Marcolin, Executive Vice President of Mido

An exclusive space where the most glamorous eyewear companies showcased their finest brands and product ranges was the most popular area. The fashion forward visitors headed to the Mido Design Lab, which hosts the most avant-garde companies in terms of testing. Other exhibition and educational areas such as the Health&Innovation Forum also had a wide appeal.
