CooperVision has presented a cheque for AUD$100,000 to Optometry Giving Sight (OGS) and in doing so, become the organisation’s first Global Gold Sponsor. CooperVision is also a National Silver Sponsor in Australia and a Pioneer Sponsor in Singapore.
“I am delighted to make this commitment to Optometry Giving Sight Global on behalf of CooperVision Asia Pacific and Latin America,” said Dr. Juan Carlos Aragon, President of CooperVision for the region. “90 per cent of the world’s preventable blindness occurs in the developing world, and a large percentage of that is in Asia Pacific and Latin America. Our company wants to be part of the solution”.
Dr. Aragón told mivision, “We believe in Optometry Giving Sight’s vision that the solution to refractive error blindness requires sustainable, long term solutions… We’ve looked at OGS and we like what they’re doing. We’ve supported them in a number of individual countries and now we’re supporting them globally.”
Dr. Aragón and Andrew Carthew, General Manager of CooperVision Australia presented the cheque to Ron Baroni, Australian Country Manager and Brian Spiller, Global Marketing Head from OGS at the Southern Regional Congress in Melbourne in May.
