The World Council of Optometry (WCO) has elected its first female president. Tone Garaas-Maurdalen, a qualified optometrist since 1976, has worked with Ciba Vision and the School of Optometry in Norway. She is executive director of the Norwegian Association of Optometry.
Speaking of her appointment, Tone Garaas-Maurdalen said, “WCO has always been an important unifying voice and catalyst for international projects and services. I am pleased to be able to ensure that it will continue to meet the future needs of the optometric profession and
the public around the world.”
