Opticare Relaunches Ocelote with Free Tablet

Opticare has upgraded its practice management software program, Ocelot, and will launch it in Sydney at ODMA. Optometrists who choose to buy the software during ODMA will be given a free Windows 7 tablet from which they can run the program.

George Nasser, the company’s founder and managing director, says the upgraded software has new features that will help optometrists manage every aspect of their business – with capacity for SMS messaging, emailing and third party billing all on tap. Additionally, users can create an appointment book to manage consulting rooms, monitor patient arrivals and departures. The program even identifies patients who do not show up. “I’m very excited – this software is more versatile and more graphically oriented than our previous package,” said Mr. Nasser.

Ocelote comes with Optilink Online, Opticare’s proprietary lab transfer software program that enables optometrists to order prescription lenses fitted into Opticare frames and track them, on-line.

“Optometrists who buy Ocelote at ODMA will get a free 10″ wireless tablet with a built in camera and 1Mb ram, as well as a keypad,” said Mr. Nasser.

“The software is very easy to set up and if our customer needs us to, we can do that for them remotely. It comes with a one-month free trial as well as three months access to our telephone help desk. After that, users can access the online help service or pay AUD$250 (plus GST) per year for continued telephone access.”

The one off cost for Ocelote at ODMA is AUD$1,950 plus GST.
