Varilux Physio 360 New Edition by Essilor was awarded first place in the Best Lens Design category at the inaugural ODMA Awards Of Excellence 2011.
Lens design was one of 12 award categories, which together attracted 100 nominations and were voted on by a panel of eye care professionals and optometry practice owners. The Optical Distributors & Manufacturers Association (ODMA) presented category winners with their awards at ODMA 2011 in Darling Harbour, Sydney on Friday 8 August.
Essilor says that Varilux Physio, first launched in 2006, revolutionised the way lenses were calculated by using W.A.V.E. technology to take into account the entire beam of light entering the eye.
Varilux Physio 360 New Edition, launched in Australia in November 2010, takes advantage of W.A.V.E 2.0 technology. The company says this evolved lens now integrates every possible diameter of the pupil for each wearer to further optimise the high order aberrations control. The result, they claim, is enhanced wearer benefits – high resolution vision for all vision zones regardless of age, distances, light conditions and ametropia.
