The Tasmanian Optometry Foundation, established in 2010, has awarded three scholarships in its first year.
Scholarships were awarded to Marion Doherty, a fourth year Bachelor of Optometry student at Melbourne University who will be able to complete her fifth and final year of study and Tim Powell, who will research vision and eye care requirements of aged care residents in Tasmanian. A third scholarship was awarded to Daryl Guest, who will travel to America to learn hands on techniques around assessment and removal of simple lid lesions as well as current methods of corneal screening and biopsy.
