Thailand is presently experiencing devastating floods across a large portion of the country, the worst in 50 years. These floods have caused the closure of many Industrial estates throughout the country which has affected many global companies like Canon, Sony, Honda and Ford.
On Saturday 15th October HOYA’s laboratory and one of its lens manufacturing facilities fell victim to the floods and sustained some water damage. Although the damage does not appear to be as extreme as other areas, at this stage production at the plant remains suspended.
HOYA Australia sources some of it products from this facility. At present Australia is able to supply most products however, we do have some disruption to some product lines, primarily FreeForm progressives. We expect to have capacity available from HOYA labs in Malaysia, Korea and Hong Kong within 7 – 10 days, with most services to return to normal shortly thereafter.
We thank all of our customers and partners for your patience while we work through this devastating event and would like to assure you that we are doing everything possible to minimise disruptions and delays. We will continue to keep you informed as new information comes to hand.
