Susan Larter Trust Launched

A Vision Trust is to be officially launched by the Australian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO) in honour of behavioural optometrist Susan Larter who died tragically in 2011. The Susan Larter Vision Trust will be officially launched in a Gala event in July at the Melbourne Aquarium.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column]

At the time of her death Ms. Larter, as President of ACBO, was working on the concept of forming a Trust to support disadvantaged patients in Vision Therapy and fund research opportunities in Behavioural Optometry. John Larter and the ACBO Board have taken the concept to completion.

In addition to providing important financial support for disadvantaged families, the research element of the Trust’s work will provide valuable insights into the practice and science of optometry as it relates to children’s vision and visual performance. ACBO will work with the schools of Optometry to evaluate treatment programs funded by the Trust.

ACBO has committed to providing initial funds for the Trust’s operation and is seeking contributions from optical companies and practices. Substantial legal support has been provided pro-bono by Sparke Helmore Lawyers.
