The National Board of Optometrists Association Australia has appointed Ms Genevieve Quilty to the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective 30 March 2012.
Ms. Quilty has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer since late September 2011. She had been the Deputy CEO from May 2011 and National Policy Manager for the Association since October 2008.
Speaking of her appointment, Ms. Quilty told mivision: “It is a great honour to have been selected by the National Board. I have worked with the Association since 2008 in a number of policy based roles, this gives me a solid background to understand the important issues affecting practising optometrists in Australia. In collaboration with our State Divisions and national office staff, I am looking forward to advocating to decision makers on behalf of practising optometrists to help improve policy settings and to provide useful and relevant professional support and services to help support our members provide world class eye and vision care.
Ms. Qulity said the Association is in the process of finalising a new strategic plan which sets out ambitious strategies and goals that will empower optometrists in the provision of accessible quality eye health and vision care as well as fulfill their professional ambitions.

“We will also be working closely with State Divisions to look in depth at our activities in policy and advocacy, marketing and CPD to enhance our services to members.
