Prof. Brien Holden Patron Susan Larter Vision Trust

Professor Brien Holden OAM has accepted the title of Patron of the Susan Larter Vision Trust. Additionally, the Brien Holden Vision Institute has committed to a substantial financial contribution to the Trust’s funding for the next two years.

The Trust was founded in memory of the late Behavioural Optometrist Sue Larter by her husband John and The Australasian College of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO). It was established in early 2012 to provide funding for disadvantaged children to access vision therapy and related services. A cause this much loved woman was very passionate about.

Ms. Larter died unexpectantly in 2011, while holidaying with her husband on the Kermadec islands, I,000km north east of New Zealand.

ACBO President, Dr. Paul Levi said Professor Holden’s extensive experience and respect in the profession would be immensely valuable to the Trust and the ACBO Executive Board was delighted and honoured that he had been able to accept the Patronage.

Professor Brien Holden OAM has been a major figure in international eye health and vision care for nearly 40 years. His influence extends across science, research and development, professional and academic education, public health and as an advocate for the profession of optometry. He has been instrumental in establishing and guiding a series of groundbreaking national and international organisations that continue to make important contributions in vision and eye health.

Professor Holden said he looked forward to assisting the Trust to help as many children as possible to achieve their potential through improved vision and learning, and also to create a fitting memorial for Sue Larter.
