One of the world’s smallest international sunglass companies is also one of the most innovative – and it’s based on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Barz Optics specialises in designing and manufacturing floating eyewear – perfect for the coming summer months – and currently exports to 16 countries.
The company has just added to its collection with two new sunglass styles – the Floater (pictured) and the San Juan. Both styles are fitted with 1.1mm polarised tri acetate with a density of .95m/ml. Fresh water is 1.00gm/ml and salt is 1.03 and above, so the density of these lenses ensures the sunglasses float.
The Floater and the high wrap San Juan are available in six lens options and can be fitted with limited RX prescription lenses (through the Barz Optics lab if required). Although Barz sells online, Managing Director Kevin Barr says the online prices are higher than suggested retail prices and there is plenty of room for margin.
