Hoya has launched Sun IQ, a new generation of photochromic treatments for the plastic lens range, just in time for summer.
According to the company, which launched the new product on 8 October, this new lens treatment is characterised by an intense darkening and brightening development process as well as an impressive level of scratch resistance.
Hoya claims that indoors and at night, Sun IQ will almost be completely clear, with only five per cent absorption to almost non-colourless variants. During the day, the more intense the UV rays, the darker the colour of the lens. It takes just 3-4 minutes for the lenses to fade back to 60 per cent. For patients, this means more relaxed, comfortable eyes at any time, and optimal protection against UVA and UVB rays.
According to HOYA, spin-coating technology ensures an even and thin photochromic coating that enables the company to achieve intense colour that is fast changing, effective and reliable. Subsequently, with hard coating and anti-reflection multi-coats, the result is a composite material with an unusually long shelf life.
Sun IQ is available on 1.50, 1.53 Phoenix, 1.60 Eyas & 1.67 Eynoa grind products and in warm brown and cool grey colours.
