
A media release announcing the move says the agreement will cover certain ophthalmic lens technologies, including Carl Zeiss Vision’s back-surface freeform progressive lens technology.
The companies say the agreement will allow Carl Zeiss Vision and Rodenstock to accelerate the delivery of advanced ophthalmic lens products and related technology to kets throughout the world.
Both companies are based in Germany. The Carl Zeiss Group is an international leader in the fields of optics and optoelectronics. In 2011–12 the company generated revenue of nearly 4.2 billion euros.
Rodenstock is Germany’s leading manufacturer of ophthalmic lenses and spectacle frames. The company, which was founded in 1877, is based in Munich but maintains production sites in 12 countries.
