A new online optical educational resource will help bridge the optical technology gap for students and educators by providing access to the very latest materials at the touch of a button.
www.visionlinkeducation.com, which has been developed in partnership by Essilor and the Brien Holden Vision Institute, offers resources that include state-of–the-art virtual refraction software – one of the first computer assisted teaching elements in optometry that equips students with high level refraction skills prior to testing patients. Additionally, the online education resource delivers an enhanced 32-week ophthalmic lens curriculum; progressive lens fitting workshops; and modules incorporating interactive e-learning components.
As lens technology continues to evolve, the partners behind Vision Link hope the free educational resources it provides will ensure optical educators have access to the very latest information wherever they are.
Based on the success of the Varilux Academy Educator Initiative (VAEI), Vision Link has an expanded online reach throughout the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Russia and Africa. Teachers at more than 70 institutions across the Asia Pacific, South Africa parts of the Middle East, and Australia, have relied on hard copies of the VAEI materials for the last fifteen years.
