SRC takes place from 1–3 June and as always, the OAA–Vic Education Committee has drawn together an exceptional education program filled with topics that are relevant and useful to delegates.
The conference is focused on best practice education. Presentations are required to reference recent evidence, reliable sources, and clinical guidelines. At each session, speakers will outline outcomes that you can expect to get from attendance, including key messages that delegates can take directly away to improve and update clinical practice. There are learning objectives, optional assessment for many sessions, and the opportunity to ask questions or seek feedback.
SRC’s keynote speaker is Canadian Dr. Blair Lonsberry. New to SRC, Dr. Lonsberry has expertise in diagnosis and management of ocular disease and in the management of patients presenting with ocular symptoms that require urgent attention. He is also a qualified adult educator with a Master of Education.
Other speakers include paediatric optometrists Adrian Bell and Kate Johnson who will present Kids’ Corner, an update on the latest in BV research. They will also provide practical advice and information about undertaking effective examinations of children. Contact Lens Controversies offers an entertaining new format, a PowerPoint free zone, in which four expert contact lens practitioners debate nine controversies, using only their brain-power, rhetorical skills … and knowledge.

Those with an interest in how the profession fits into a broader agenda to support public health should attend the Public Health Symposium. This symposium will feature Professor Rob Moodie, who will discuss squinting prevention and Associate Professor Daryl Guest who will talk about public health’s relevance to all clinicians.
