
A workshop this month will explore how optometrists can address job, equipment and consultation room design to relieve work related discomfort.
The workshop, which has been planned by Dr. Jenny Long, will be hosted at the University of New South Wales.
Dr. Long will speak at the workshop on ‘Show me the evidence – the extent and impact of work related discomfort in the optometry profession’. Additionally she will present ‘When something goes wrong – personal perspectives of work related discomfort’. Mr. Stephen Ward, Director, Industrial Design at the School of the Built Environment, UNSW will present on ‘Does ergonomic design equal comfort and productivity? Ms. Janine Hobson, an optometrist based in the NSW town of Young, will speak on ‘Designing for comfort – an optometrist’s description of how they designed their consultation room with comfort and productivity in mind.’
Dr. Long said the workshop will be interactive, with attendees asked to contribute their thoughts and experiences. It will take place from 12.15pm on Tuesday 18 June.
