Zeal Optics is a boutique eyewear brand now owned by Maui Jim and being launched this month (June) at ODMA. Like its parent company, Zeal is focused on lens quality, although this brand, with its more fashion oriented styling, is pitched at a younger audience.
All Zeal frames are made from Z-resin, a plant-based material that uses castor oil, eliminating harmful crude oil from the manufacturing process. Within the first Zeal collection to be launched in Australia are models called Brewer (pictured), Darby, Sawyer and Hadley.
According to Zeal, Brewer was inspired by the hardworking heritage of Milwaukee, a city of microbreweries, the Brewer is all about quality. Steeped in tradition, this frame was forged out of the need to provide a simple, no nonsense pair of shades for the everyday working man. The Zeal Brewer was recently awarded ISPO’s Gold Award for “Design Excellence with a Sustainable Focus”.
