ISO Heads to China

The 9th International Symposium of Ophthalmology (ISO) will be held in Guangzhou, China, from 9–11 November.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column]

Hosted by the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) and the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology (SKLO) of the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), the Ninth ISO will be held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the ZOC. Over 2,000 delegates from more than 50 countries with over 400 high profile speakers from around the world are expected to attend.

The Ninth ISO is supported by international, regional and national organisations, leading experts in the field of ophthalmology and visual sciences including the Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis, the International Ocular Inflammation Society, the International Society of Ocular Oncology, International Society of Ophthalmic Pathology, the International Society of Geographical and Epidemiology Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, the Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society, the New Zealand National Eye Centre, to name but a few.

The conference will offer a comprehensive scientific program with symposium sessions covering a broad spectrum of topics in ophthalmology and a Plenary Lecture by Nobel Laureate, Prof. Andrew V. Schally whose research into peptide hormone production in the brain won him the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1977. Prof. Schally’s research focus in recent years has been to apply his peptides in curing ocular diseases.
