Seen Connecting at ODMA

ODMA 2013, held for the first time in Brisbane, presented the perfect opportunity for eye care professionals from around Australia and overseas to build connections. New friendships were formed, old friends reunited and business relationships further strengthened at the three-day national industry event.

ODMA 2013 has been described as a national exhibition with a conference attached. As such, the focus this year was firmly on getting people together in the exhibition hall where they could meet with exhibitors, explore new products and technologies and place orders for the year ahead.

The vibe in the ODMA hall during the day was upbeat and friendly yet focussed. At night – and especially on Saturday night at the gala dinner – the atmosphere was electric.

The inaugural ODMA gala dinner at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre attracted 620 people from the eye care profession and according to the guests we spoke to, was the crowning glory for what was a highly successful exhibition.

Now in its third year, this competition encourages Australians to harness their creativity and submit a photograph…

Finola Carey, CEO of ODMA said the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the annual ODMA excellence awards to key industry members. She said the entertainment was superb, although the antics of a risqué magician had her sitting on the edge of her seat, as he borrowed rings, snipped through ties
and generally poked fun at the guests.

Michael Jacobs, CEO of Eycare Plus said the ODMA gala dinner succeeded in bringing the industry together. “It was a fabulous evening, one that really anchored the ODMA event,” he said.

The photos speak for themselves.

mEYE World Photographic Competition

The Macular Disease Foundation Australia chose ODMA 2013 to launch the mEYE World Photographic Competition. Now in its third year, this competition encourages Australians to harness their creativity and submit a photograph, along with up to 60 supporting words, showing their appreciation of the gift of vision. Monica Trapaga, one of Australia’s most popular entertainers and an author was the guest speaker during proceedings at the official launch.
