Massive congratulations to ultra-marathon runner Damian King who completed his ‘Jog out of Fog’ yesterday (Sunday 18 August), having run an extraordinary 1,000km from Brisbane to Sydney, to raise much-needed funds for Cambodia Vision.
Damian raised more than AU$46,000 for the volunteer group, members of which travel every year to Cambodia at their own expense to perform vital cataract surgery for those in need.
He called his fund raising effort ‘Jog out of Fog’ in reference to the white fog that people with cataracts experience because the lens of their eye(s) becomes ‘milky’.
Despite having just completed the 1,000km distance in 16 days, Damian was all smiles at the finish line, at Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. He was guided through the ribbons by his daughter Sophie and cheered on by friends, family and members from the Rotary Club of Liverpool West and Cambodia Vision.
