At just two years of age, US brand DIZM is all fired up with uber cool new frames to celebrate what it hopes will be a strong season of retailing. The brand, which is skewed towards lovers of the outdoors, especially surfers and skaters, has a strong environmental focus.
DIZM’s 2013 collection is pretty much ‘completely green’ – from the 100 per cent renewable, biodegradable frame right through to the renewable cotton storage / cleaning bags and packaging, made from 70 per cent recycled materials. There’s more to come…
“We’re currently exploring how we can expand more sustainable practices into our lenses as well,” Dizm’s Jonas Lee told mivision. Dizm’s current lenses are made from CR39, they’re polarised and impact and scratch resistant. Frames are handmade in China, although Lee says Dizm is looking to bring production back to the States as soon as possible.
The company has established Dizm Days, a concept that encourages every person to spend five minutes of their day focused on environmental and socially conscious acts.
