The 2013 survey, which can be completed when optometrists renew their registration, aims to provide Health Workforce Australia (HWA) with information for planning purposes.
HWA regularly conducts workforce data collection across a range of health professions. It is mandated that the workforce questionnaires collect agreed minimum data requirements for health workforce statistics and maintain consistency across different professions.
The Board said while the survey wasn’t mandatory, optometrists are encouraged to participate. A Board communiqué said the survey would provide “key data that assists with developing a profile of optometrists and their work activities, which can then be considered in workforce planning and policy development activities, and future workforce modeling”.
Registration renewal can be completed at https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Login.aspx by 30 November.
