Hoya has announced it will introduce the most individualised lens the company has ever sold to the Australian market early in 2014.
The Hoyalux iD MyStyle V+ was launched at an event at Silmo in Paris with claims that this lens “takes the concept of individualisation to the next level and offers clarity in a split second” by balancing the design performance between right and left eyes.
As many as 73 per cent* of European presbyopes have a different prescription for their left and right eye. Even the smallest prescription difference can alter the position at which light rays pass each lens, leading to a visual imbalance that can cause asthenopic complaints, such as tired and burning eyes and headaches.
To create the Hoyalux iD MyStyle V+, Hoya developed iDentifier software with an algorithm that tailors the distance, intermediate and near area exactly to individual needs including individual wearing conditions, wearing history, prescription and lifestyle. According to Hoya, iDentifier software has virtually unlimited design variations to guarantee a fully personalised profile.
The process doesn’t end there. Hoya also introduced ‘binocular harmonisation technology’ which considers the right and left prescription as individual components to define the required binocular lens design, then calculates the necessary progressive distribution for each eye accordingly.
Hoya’s product specialist, Petri Eskola said as a result of this technology, the Hoyalux iD MyStyle V+ is the most individual lens the company has ever sold. “We are very proud to introduce the biggest design innovation since the launch of Hoyalux iD… in 2003. With our new Binocular Harmonization Technology we are, for the first time, able to create a progressive lens that truly improves binocular vision.”
