Alex Perry designed polarised sunglasses have been provided to all 256 main draw tennis players at this year’s Australian Open. It’s all part of Specsaver’s effort to protect the eyes of players, tournament staff and officials (including ballkids) who are working under Melbourne’s intensely bright summer sky.
Specsavers is the Official Eye Care partner at the Australian Open.
Prior to the Open, former world No.1 and Seven Network tennis commentator Jim Courier had his eyes tested by David Southgate, optometry partner at Specsavers Collins Place, Melbourne.
Courier is well aware of the importance of sharp vision for peak performance, especially when analysing complex matches from the commentary box. “Eye care is extremely important, especially on bright and sunny days when it’s essential to protect your eyes with a pair of polarised lenses,” he said.
