Professor Michael Ibbotson – the Director of the National Vision Research Institute – is one of 14 Chief Investigators in a consortium recently awarded a major Australian Research Council grant.
The consortium, led by Monash University, includes Australia’s six top research universities and has been named as an ARC Centre of Excellence in Integrative Brain Function.
The title is accompanied by an AU$20 million grant to establish the Centre. Additional funding will be provided by participating universities, to fund the Centre over the next seven years.
The Centre will study the neural basis of attention, prediction and decision-making through all of the senses, including sight.
The ARC Centres of Excellence scheme aims to enhance and develop highly innovative and collaborative research, as well as build Australia’s human capacity in a range of research areas.
