A new safety standard has been published that provides more wide-reaching information about which eye protection people should wear, depending on the hazard.
“AS/NZS 1336:2014 extends the advice from traditional mechanical and construction industries to cover a wide range of hazards including professions such as vets, pathology and surgical units. It will equip optometrists to advise a much broader group of people,” said optometrist Annette Hoskin, who represents Optometry Australia on Standards Australia SF-006 Eye and Face Protection committee.
