The Cooper Companies has completed its purchase of soft contact lens manufacturer and distributor Sauflon Pharmaceuticals Limited, in a deal valued at approximately $US1.2 billion.
The Cooper Companies is a global medical device company that incorporates CooperVision. CooperVision says the acquisition gives the company the ability to offer the most extensive range of daily disposable contact lens options to eye care practitioners and wearers worldwide.
“We’re approaching the daily disposables category with a new, multi-tier model. By adding the Sauflon portfolio… we’re bringing forward multiple contact lens families designed and marketed for distinct wearer segments,” said CooperVision President Daniel G. McBride said.
“This approach to the market provides practitioners the ability to offer a daily disposable lens for every eye and every budget, which should further accelerate both practice growth and category momentum.”

Mr. McBride said the CooperVision is now working to combine both companies’ people, processes and pipelines to build the best possible customer and wearer experience.
He said eye care practices should continue working with their current CooperVision and Sauflon representatives, support resources and ordering mechanisms until advised otherwise.
