Mr. Haydon worked for the past five years as the Manager of the RACV Community Foundation, a philanthropic organisation which distributes grants for a wide range of community development projects enhancing community safety, environmental sustainability and social cohesion across the State. He also held roles with the national and international Red Cross, where, as Communications Manager, he ran communications for the Red Cross disaster response on the ground in countries affected by the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
In his most recent role at the RACV Community Foundation, Mr. Haydon worked with members, charitable organisations and community groups to expand RACV’s philanthropic footprint, including governance, delivering the grant program, strategic planning, revenue generation, and financial modelling.
Optometry Victoria President Kylie Harris says the Board looks forward to working with Mr. Haydon.
“We undertook a recruitment process looking to find an EO who could lead us through the process of developing a new strategic direction,” said Ms. Harris. “We were looking for someone with experience in communicating new ideas and concepts, and able to identify opportunities to advocate for and promote optometry. We’re really pleased to have appointed Pete, and believe that he absolutely has those skills.”
