Eyecare Plus will move its national office to Sydney and operate under the direction of Simon Lewis as the organisation’s new general manager.
Mr. Lewis has vast experience across the optometry industry in Australia, having previously held positions with Wesley Jessen Pty Ltd (Contact Lens Division), Pilkington Barnes Hind Pty Ltd (Contact Lens Division), Allergan Australia (Optical Division), Perkins Optical Products Pty Ltd and Essilor Australia Pty Ltd.
In a statement issued by Eyecare Plus, the organisation’s chairman Justin Durkin said, “This is an exciting new chapter for Eyecare Plus – Simon brings a very strong record in business development and management to the role and a rich knowledge and respect for Eyecare Plus and its mission.
“Since Michael Jacobs retired in January, the Board has been undertaking a strategic review of the future plans for Eyecare Plus. This included finding the best and most experienced candidate to be general manager and consideration of the best national office location for the next phase in our development as Australia’s leading member owned optometry group.
“With Simon accepting the position, the Board has now also decided that the Eyecare Plus national office will be moved to Sydney. We have not started looking for premises yet, so it is too early to set a timescale for the relocation but this will be an exciting time as we move physically closer to our strategic partners and more accessible to our membership in general,” said Mr. Durkin.
