3D Eyewear Steals Fashion Show

3D printed luxury eyewear, designed by third year bachelor student Dávid Ring, managed to steal audience attention at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts’ Fashion School Show in Antwerp, Belgium during June.

Ring manufactured his five-piece eyewear collection in collaboration with Belgian 3D printing service Materialise using two different 3D printing techniques: stereolithography (SLA) to produce the transparent lenses and Laser Sintering technology to create the matching frames. With no hinges, the sunglasses are fully 3D printed.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp is recognised as one of Europe’s first and most reputable fine arts schools, having attracted talented artists and painters since the 17th century, including Vincent Van Gogh and more recently Dries van Noten.
