Always dynamic, never dull, as well as taking care of education for optometrists, offers a dual education stream that will bring your optical dispensers up to speed on the latest in dispensing skills, patient management and eye care.
Optometry
Speakers at the optometry education stream include ophthalmologists Dr. Raymond Loh and Dr. Shane Durkin, optometrists Dr. Blair Lonsberry, Steve Leslie, Dr. Laura Downie and Graham Lakkis, Essilor’s Tim Thurn, as well as Luke Arundel from Optometry Australia and entrepreneur Scott Boocock.
A broad range of clinical topics will include ocular malignancies, ocular surface disease, ocular emergencies, nerve palsy, glaucoma, orthokeratology, macular degeneration, OCT angiography, corneal surgery and meeting patients’ refractive needs.
Optometrists will also be invited to attend business focuses sessions on innovation, social media and privacy legislation.
Optical Dispensing
A dedicated dual education stream for optical dispensers and front-line staff will allow dispensing delegates to select the level and topic of interest most suited to whether they are starting out or qualified. The speaker line up for the dispensing stream includes optical dispensers Grant Hannaford and Steve Daras, practising optometrists Aimee Patten, Ashley Rivett and Elise Pocknee-Clem and communication experts speakers Nicola Lipscombe and Gary Edwards.
The comprehensive topic list includes, but is nowhere near limited to, handling customer complaints, achieving the best “pretests”, the science behind the measurements,. contact lens fundamentals, a round-up of relevant state and national legislation, and an overview of technology used in practice.
