Essilor Australia has called on eye care professionals to support a fundraising initiative that will assist victims of Cyclone Debbie and recent floods in Queensland and northern NSW.
The company has contacted optometrists throughout Australia inviting them to donate to four leading charities and the Essilor Vision Foundation. Essilor will match any donations made to the following five charities during the month of April.
• Australian Red Cross
• The Salvation Army
• St Vincent de Paul Society of Queensland
• Uniting Care Community
• Essilor Vision Foundation
Phuong Nguyen, CEO at Essilor, said the initiative “was a heartfelt reaction to this disaster that has claimed lives, homes and businesses.
“Our campaign is a collaborative effort to help alleviate some of the suffering. We encourage optometrists to get behind this initiative and help us achieve our ambition of raising $100,000.”
The Essilor team has also contacted optometry businesses that may have been directly affected by the disaster and offered assistance to them and their customers.
“We know that some businesses have not been able to operate as normal – we’ll work with them to see how best we can support them during this time,” Mr. Nguyen added.
“If any optometrists want to support our campaign please contact me directly.”
