NACBO – the national vision conference run by the Australasian College of Behavioural Optometry (ACBO) – will take place in Sydney from 6–7 July. This year’s headline speaker is Susan Cotter, Professor at Southern California College of Optometry, from the United States.
Professor Cotter will speak on evidence-based behavioural optometric care, covering the eye conditions of correction for hyperopia; convergence insufficiency; amblyopia and intermittent exotropia. Speaking to mivision, Professor Cotter said her goal for NACBO is to discuss the current evidence base concerning the management of these common childhood eye conditions. “Before discussing the specific conditions, I will review the concept of evidence-based practice and how it can be implemented in clinical practice and used to improve clinical decision making,” she told mivision. “A brief overview of the key components of a well-designed and well-executed randomised clinical trial will be included.”
NACBO 2017 will include the inaugural Brien Holden Lecture in honour of Professor Brien Holden who personally supported ACBO and its members. Prof. Padmaja Sankaridurg, myopia program leader for the Brien Holden Vision Institute will deliver a talk on the topic of Myopia Management, featuring the latest research and best practice guidelines.
Acting President of ACBO, Steve Leslie will present on pattern glare and tints.
NACBO will take place from 6–7 July at the Sydney International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour. For the full program and to register, visit www.acbo.org.au
