ODMA17 Looks to a Positive Future in Optics

The Optical Distributors and Manufacturers Association (ODMA) will celebrate all that’s good about the optics industry when it opens the doors to its 20th major trade show; ODMA17.

ODMA17, which will run from 7–9 July at the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour, will feature more than 100 exhibitors, showcasing the latest optical and sun frames, technology, and equipment for the eyewear and eye care sector.

Dispensing Skills Challenged

Once again ODMA will invite eye care professionals to test their dispensing skills with challenges in focimetry and edging. The ACOD Focimetry challenge will see competitors sit at a table to neutralise (read) the powers of one complete pair of spectacles on a manual, telescopic focimeter. The challenger will be asked to record the powers and all relevant details as accurately as possible.

The Optimed Edging challenge involves using a glass cutter, shanking plier and hand edger to fit a lens to a metal frame in less than 30 minutes.

Entries to both challenges will be judged anonymously by industry members Steve Dara and James Gibbins.
