Registration Open for ACO Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Australian College of Optometry (ACO) Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics (COT), which commences on 16 April. The College will run just one COT course in 2018 that enables optometrists to become therapeutically qualified.

Now in its fifth year, the COT course has been developed to meet the needs of working optometrists with online lectures that can be completed in their own time. It offers the flexibility of local clinical placements and local assessments, with no travel required.

According to the College, an end of course survey conducted this year revealed that:
– More than 98 per cent said their course expectations were achieved
– 100 per cent said they would recommend ACO COT to others
– More than 80 per cent said they enrolled in the course because of its flexible learning approach.

A graduate from the ACO COT April 2016 intake said, “It was fantastic to be able to study without leaving home and to be able to organise local venues for exams and local clinical placements which strengthened relationships with local ophthalmologists, especially as I live in a rural area and most other CPD requires travel. Congratulations on providing fantastic distance learning experience.”

On successful completion of the course, candidates registered to practice in Australia earn 80 T points and candidates registered to practice in New Zealand earn 60 CD points.
