George & Matilda Eyecare Adds New Partners in VIC, SA and ACT

Three optometry practices, from Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra, have joined George and Matilda Eyecare, bringing the total number of practices to 44 around Australia.

The latest acquisitions are Graeme Wood Optometrist in Essendon, The Pinhole Effect in Adelaide’s CBD and Vision City in Canberra.

George & Matilda Eyecare CEO, Chris Beer, said this latest announcement signals the start of a very busy year and additional partners will be announced soon.

“Our ambition is to become the leading national community of independent optometrists. This means we have spent a lot of time and investment last year to ensure we can deliver a platform that can generate outstanding growth for all our practices,” said Mr. Beer.

“The interest this has generated means we have been able to attract a very high calibre of partners to our community and we’re continuing to grow at a fast pace, surpassing everyone’s expectations,” he said.
Graeme Wood said, “It was critical that I found a partner who could provide support to me and our team to help us continue thriving in an ever-changing landscape. For us, George & Matilda Eyecare were the perfect fit. I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together in the future.”

Mr. Beer said George & Matilda Eyecare is seeing increasing interest in Victoria and as a result has hired a partnership development manager in the State to meet with the demand.

Optometrist and owner of The Pinhole Effect in Adelaide, Tien Trinh, said: “We are a specialist boutique practice in the heart of Adelaide. Our store was growing and I could see that partnering with G&M would help me continue to grow the business, while retaining what makes my practice unique. G&M understands the importance of preserving what makes us a success while providing more support to take advantage of opportunities to be even more successful.”

Colin Skelton, owner of Vision City in Canberra, said George & Matilda Eyecare offered his practice a greater amount of support, allowing him to focus more on his patients; “Our patients come to us because they trust that we are going to give them the very best eye care. Chris and the team really understand the importance of being patient-focused. I’m excited to be joining a community that shares the same values as we have always lived by.”

“In the short time since George & Matilda started in business, we have become increasingly focused on, and effective in, delivering our mission. We have found by working closely with our partners to maintain their independence whilst supporting them with their back-office needs, combined with our group buying power to source the best range of eye care solutions is a winning formula for success,” Mr. Beer concluded.
