Carla Zampatti has released three optical frames and six prescription sunglasses for Specavers.
The collection is versatile, offering a combination of fine, delicate and slimline designs, juxtaposed against bold silhouettes. Among the frames there’s a pink tinted aviator inspired frame, an oversized round eye and a striking black and white striped cat’s eye design.
Ms. Zampatti is not new to eyewear design, having launched a small collection back in the 70s. Speaking to mivision about creating that collection, she said, “It was wonderful as it allowed for another form of expression for my customers. About five years ago my eyes were becoming more sensitive to light and I was wearing sunglasses day and night, then Specsavers made contact with me and over a few years we developed the perfect styles to complement my fashion designs.”
Ms. Zampatti said when it comes to designing eyewear, sunglasses are her preference. “I very much enjoy designing sunglasses, I have a vast collection from the past 50 years. I enjoy giving a modern twist to something from the past as much as I want to design a style that I feel has not be seen before. I do not wear spectacles so I rely heavily on friends and colleagues who do wear spectacles and who tell me what they require. The team at Specsavers is amazing at assisting with their technical knowledge.”
The Carla Zampatti collection is designed “for the modern woman” independently of the current season’s fashion trends. “The eyewear collection is developed 18 months in advance, whereas the fashion line has a six month lead time. Though whether it is eyewear, fashion, accessories or a corporate wardrobe, I always work with the DNA of the Carla Zampatti brand – glamourous, stylish and timeless with an unexpected element,” said Ms. Zampatti.
