All optometry practices in New Zealand now have access to Gelflex contact lens products following the appointment of distributor, Optical Instrument Company (OIC).
OIC, owned by Tim Way, will promote a large range of rigid gas permeable (RGP) and soft contact lenses including Euclid and Gelflex Ortho-K, Zenlens (new to ANZ) as well as the Gelflex Softclear Comfort range of disposable lenses.

Distribution of its products throughout New Zealand will further expand Gelflex’s global presence – currently the company distributes over 99 per cent of its disposable lenses overseas to countries including USA, Indonesia, Russia, Israel, South Africa, Singapore etc. Over 25 per cent of the company’s custom lenses are also exported, mostly to the USA.
Despite its increasing global presence, Gelflex has stated that it is committed to providing flexible service to support the diverse needs of optometry. The company has established an online training hub that offers practitioners resources to better fit and understand fitting contact lenses. The hub is available to all practitioners at no cost and with unlimited access – email [email protected] for a log in and password. Technical support is available from the Gelflex Melbourne office via email or phone call.
Gelflex and OIC will be available to meet with contact lens practitioners at the forthcoming Cornea and Contact Lens Association NZ meeting in Rotorua from Thursday 28 February – to Saturday 2 March, 2019. Visit www.contactlens.org.nz for details.
