The 2019 edition of Silmo Paris, held from 27–30 September, promises to be a dynamic one, with active sales predicted and a rich activity programme planned. Here’s what’s in stall for this year’s optical fair…
At the heart of the trade fair, Silmo Next will present a futurology space with theme lectures on the markets, innovative business corners that anticipate technological changes, and a discussion space where visitors may better encounter and understand what is going to transform the optical and eyewear industry.
This year, the Silmo D’or Awards are celebrating their 25th anniversary. Recognising the best in creation and innovation since 1994, the awards provide an opportunity to put a temporal perspective on the technological innovations and stylistic creations that have driven the optical and eyewear world over the years.

On Sunday the 29 September, Silmo Academy will be held on the theme of “refraction”. Workshops and a scientific seminar will be provided for attendees to update their knowledge and speak with experts.
Acting as a source of networking and an information base to optimise your Silmo experience, Silmo M@tch will allow you to schedule meetings, discover innovations and new products, search according to specific criteria, as well as receive personalised suggestions and facilitate discussions with professionals.
The Silmo Family
Prior to Silmo Paris, the Silmo Family will present the innovation of Silmo Showroom in Lisbon, Portugal on 30 June 2019. This new event was developed to provide a day of networking dedicated to selected local purchasers.
“The concept arose from a simple observation: the more digitalisation progresses, the more people have a need for human contact,” explains Eric Lenoir, director of Silmo. “While Silmo Paris remains the industry’s uncontested major federating event, and while its aura is unparalleled, we realised that there is a need to propose events of various sizes and concepts throughout the year to meet the regional markets’ local expectations for proximity and attention.”
The organisation’s objective is to take advantage of the existing Silmo international network to develop and increase visibility. Such extensions demonstrate the strength of the Silmo brand, reasserting the brand’s position as both global and local.
