Exclusively William Morris

Much loved British eyewear designer Robert William Morris has incorporated exquisite artworks by the British textile designer, poet, and activist William Morris (1834-1896) into his entirely new Gallery collection. Artworks by the latter are enjoying a resurgence in popularity among young adults, and have inspired fashion sold through H&M. Speaking with mivision at Silmo Paris, Robert said the collaboration was a logical move given the shared name, and has enabled his company to create an entirely separate collection that will broaden its market base.

Each of the 12 optical frames in the first collection features an element of a different William Morris painting reproduced on the inside of the temples. Additionally, each frame comes with a case and cloth featuring the design used on the temples and in a William Morris designed carry bag. Cases are also available to sell separately. Window banners, show cards and display cases are available with William Morris prints and even the distributors have been provided with William Morris presentation cases featuring a William Morris print on the inside.

The target for this collection, which includes women’s and unisex optical frames, is the 30–60+ market. This is an exclusive eyewear collaboration facilitated by Loretta Dives (pictured with William Morris) with the William Morris Gallery and royalties from sales will be paid to the Gallery to fund community art education for children and art preservation.
