Marco Ting, a third year Bachelor of Vision Science student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), has been recognised with the mivision QUT Optometry Student Media Award.
Mr Ting won the award with an infographic about myopia control. The work was judged by a panel comprising a PhD student, a postdoctorate student, a practice owner, and two academics working in the myopia field.
Professor Sharon Bentley, Head, School of Optometry and Vision Science said, “The assessment panel chose this infographic as the most eye catching infographic that had the most potential to be used with myopic patients and their families. The colour choices made the information highly visible. The graphics were simple but understandable. There are not too many words and the information is factually correct.
“Clearly a lot of time and thought went into producing this infographic. Marco Ting, who used his software expertise to design and develop the graphics, provided the most important contribution to the production of the infographic.”
The award will be announced at the annual QUT Awards night this month (February).
